While we was just an undergraduate student, Santiago Martínez, with only 20 years old was diagnosed with Essential Tremor.
Far from being daunted, Santiago talked to his friends & classmates, Mateo Castelblanco & Germán Reyes, about his disease diagnostic. They saw an incredible opportunity to help not only Santiago but million people worldwide. Therefore, they decided to do their thesis project about Essential Tremor throughout the whole year.
In summer of 2023, Santiago did an internship at the Barrow Neurological Institute in Phoenix, United States. He had the opportunity to validate the need in one of the most largest and recognized research institutions in the world and saw how the current treatments were acting.
Encouraged by many professors and entrepreneurs, Santiago, Mateo, and Germán decided to participate in JUMP Chile 2023, an international competition that supports early stage startups from all over Latin America. They won the 3rd place among 600 contestants, and they realized that this research project could be something bigger.
The project was renamed ART/wear, and was selected to participate in the Swiss Accelerator Program START Fellowship. This was the impulse to transform a research project into a healthtech startup able to help million people with movement disorder diseases all around the world.

There are more than 400 million people worldwide with Essential Tremor. A disease similar to Parkinson's Disease characterized by a reduction in the quality of life because people lose control of their bodies and the autonomy to perform everyday activities.
ART/wear developed a wearable device capable of reducing hand tremors with a smart wearable technology.
ART/wear is being carefully and scientifically tested by Swiss and Colombian research institutions to ensure its efficacy. We used both clinical tests, such as the free hand spiral test, and quantitative tools.
Essential Tremor is a worldwide problem. We plan to reach PMF and secure our first manufacture in Colombia and Chile to then offer our solution in the European Union (EU).
Currently, there is no cure for this disease, and current treatments are often expensive (ranging from $1,000 to $40,000 USD), ineffective, with side effects, and limited access in developing countries such as Colombia and Chile. ART/wear delivers a personalized solution, free of side effects and accessible in regions such as Latin America.
